Labuleng Buddhist Monastery|china travel

The south of northwest China's Gansu province, known as the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is regarded as a sacred land with a charming Tibetan Buddhist ambience, represented by the Labuleng Buddhist Monastery.

The Monastery was built in 1710 by Jia Muyang, the first Living Buddha, and now it is the largest cultural center of the Tibetan Buddhism in Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan provinces.

Located in the west of Xihe county, Labuleng Buddhist Monastery is the Tibetan religious and cultural center of the south of Gansu province. It is the largest Lamaist institution in the world, comprised of six colleges in different regions.

The architecture is a mixture of Tibetan architecture and ancient Chinese palaces, with golden iron tiles, cupreous goats, Buddhist wheels, flags for rites, and precious bottles on the top, as well as all kinds of vivid Buddhist sculptures.

Every year, pilgrims from across China and around the world come to Labuleng Buddhist Monastery. The grand religious ceremonies are respectively held on January 4th-17th, and June 29th to July 15th on the Lunar calendar.

Labuleng Buddhist Monastery is seen as a holy land, not only in the eyes of local people, but also to those who are longing for purifying their heart and soul.

Villeneuve is also the director of award-winning Era, a local production that collected 226.5 million yuan at the box office from 2.2 million spectators in the past five years.

Kaleido has more high-tech details than Era, and it intends to set another milestone by employing more scientific methods to achieve dazzling special effects, says Villeneuve.

But a great show is not only due to technical brilliance, it also owes a lot to its human talent. The young acrobats are dressed in vibrantly colored costumes that draw inspiration from Chinese cultural elements such as ink calligraphy and Peking Opera.

A thought-provoking as well as entertaining show, a night at Kaleido brings spectators back to a childhood spent among grass-green lanes while transporting them into the high-velocity world of the future.

Report Reveals Student Travel Hotspots

London, UK July 27, 2010

According to a recent report, the most popular student travel destinations for summer 2010 will be extremely varied, ranging from cultural city breaks to volunteering trips. Whatever the type of trip, Post Office Travel Money reminds students of the best ways to secure their foreign currency before heading abroad.

According to the report, popular locations include the European cities of Barcelona and Paris, where students can visit many cultural attractions free of charge, whilst long-haul destinations such as Cambodia and Australia are popular with students wishing to undertake voluntary work.

Post Office Travel Money encourages students and all UK travellers to ensure they get the best deal on their foreign currency before they travel. Due to the additional costs associated with arranging travel money while on holiday, Post Office Travel Money is anyone preparing to travel abroad to arrange their foreign currency before they go.

Recent Mintel research shows that 29 per cent of UK travellers used debit cards and 12 per cent credit cards while abroad to withdraw travel money in a local foreign currency. Using debit and credit cards to withdraw foreign currency from ATMs abroad can be costly, the Post Office advises.

The Post Office reminds travellers that commission fees can be avoided by sensible foreign currency planning through preparing an appropriate travel money mix including cash, travel money card, and travellers cheques prior to travelling.

Mainland visitors travel in Taiwan during Spring Festival|china travel

During the Spring Festival, Mainland visitors can be seen at almost every hot tourist spot in Taiwan. And the enthusiasm for Taiwan travel hasn't declined in the year since cross-Strait tour packages became available.

The Taipei Palace Museum is a place most Mainland visitors would choose to go. In the past, among the museum's 5,000 visitors per day, Mainland visitors made up only about one third. But during this Spring Festival, almost all the visitors are come from the Chinese Mainland.

"Our whole family came here for Spring Festival. The festive atmosphere is great, similarly to our hometown. I love it so much." Visitor said.

"I think staying in Taiwan for the festival makes no difference from staying at home." Visitor said.

Although the price for a flight and hotel are high during the Spring Festival, the enthusiasm for coming to Taiwan is unchanged. Last year, about 40 thousand Mainland visitors travelled to Taiwan. But this year, the total is expected to be more.
