Etihad Airways EY, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will launch services to Nagoya and Tokyo in the first quarter of 2010 – the airline’s first destinations in Japan.

A five flights a week direct service to Tokyo’s Narita airport commences on Saturday 27 March (subject to regulatory approval).

The addition of Tokyo and Nagoya on Etihad’s flying programme will bring to eight the number of destinations served by Etihad in the Far East, which currently includes Beijing, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

In Pearl Business Class, each self-contained seat provides Guests with a 180-degree, fully flat bed and direct aisle access. The self-contained seats are also equipped with a 15” LCD monitor, the latest Audio-Video-On-Demand (AVOD) and revolutionary mood lighting that enhances the overall Guest experience.

In Coral Economy Class, Guests enjoy a spacious seat with up to 32” seat pitch, 10.4” seat back LCD monitors and the same luxuries as Pearl Business Class with AVOD, mood lighting and classic cuisine.


Convenient connection times will ensure that flights between Japan and Etihad’s European and Middle East flight network, via Abu Dhabi, are popular with business and leisure travellers. With the addition of Nagoya and Tokyo to its network, Etihad offers services to eight destinations in the Far East (including Beijing, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur) and 60 worldwide.

In addition to its own operations, Etihad will also offer codeshare services with Japan's ANA from 1 March, offering connections for Etihad passengers from Nagoya to Chitose and Fukuoka and through Tokyo's Narita Airport to Osaka, and for ANA passengers, connections to Etihad's worldwide network via its Abu Dhabi hub.
